Hunt for ancient shark teeth at Flag Ponds Nature Park or Calvert Cliffs State Park, or spend an afternoon discovering hidden art in trees and trunks at the Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center in Solomons. Continue your day in nature with a trip to the Patuxent Adventure Center (PAC Adventures), and enjoy a stunningly beautiful river paddle, known as McIntosh Run. For a genuinely unique Chesapeake Bay experience, take a Southern Maryland lighthouse tour from Cove Point and Drum Point to Piney Point and Point Lookout, some of which are allegedly haunted. If you would like to get some exercise, stretch your legs on the Chesapeake Beach Rail Trail in Northern Calvert County or the Three Notch Trail, which runs south from Hughesville (in Charles County) to Lexington Park (to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station). Cecil’s Old Mill in California, Maryland is the home to St. Mary’s County Art Association and retains its original water wheel as well as a display of other local artifacts.
