5 Car Questions That Will Get You Ready For Spring

mustang blog

Snow is still falling in many parts of the country, but we’re just two weeks away from Daylight Savings Time, and spring won’t be that long in coming after that.

That means you should start thinking now about the ways you want to become car-ready by the time the new season arrives. I’m talking about everything from maintaining your car to buying a new one, to deciding what your future transportation needs will be.

For every step, you need a strategy, and that starts with the way you use your car. Here are five questions to ask yourself.

1. Am I happy with what I’m driving? The answer lies in how you view your automobile. Is it a matter of convenience, or a statement of style? Is your car still within your budget? Could you afford to step up to something fresher?

2. Is my car serving me well, or is it in the shop more than I’d like? Automobile quality is better than ever, but when a car reaches a certain point in its life-cycle, it can mean some major time and money spent on repairs.

3. Do I want to keep driving? How many times have you vowed, “This is the year I’m going to start taking the bus?” Likewise, do visions of Townie bikes dance in your head? Only you can decide whether you are ready to give up an automobile and go the public transit route.

4. Which car would I buy if I had my choice? Maybe you’ve done well in the market recently, or you got a bonus check. Perhaps you’ve finally gotten the settlement from damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. This is a good time to go car shopping, while dealers still have good inventories, so take a look at car company Web sites and videos.
5. Where would I like my car to take me? If you are going to drive somewhere, now is a time to think about where. Play with Google Maps, look at sites like Gadling.com and plan some road trips. I drove all over the South last summer and am thinking about a trip East this year.

NASCAR getting ready to race!

During the days of prohibition a sport was born by speeding alcohol smugglers, who altered their cars in order to escape police.  When prohibition was overturned, there was still a subculture of altering and racing cars, this would become NASCAR.

Since those humble days, NASCAR has grown to become one of the most popular sports in the United States. A particular section is Stock car racing, which brings us to the upcoming 2013 Sprint Cup race series.

This year Ford will be racing a Ford Fusion, against Charger, Chevrolet SS and a Toyota Camry.  Penske Racing has switched its manufacturer from Dodge to Ford.

Suffering from a slowdown in fan, NASCAR is rumored to have plans to use the Sprint series as a vehicle to attract new fans and a new generation to the sport. This year, more videos and a larger online presence are expected to help bring in the internet generation.

The race schedule will be held on as follows, be sure to watch, and be sure to come back to the Waldorf Ford blog for more information and future updates.

Happy New Years

Waldorf Ford would like to thank all of you for the support that made 2012 an amazing year.  As we look forward to 2013, the much talked about, New Years Resolution, comes to mind, but what exactly can we be resolute to do… or not do in the year 2013.

414705main_image_1555_946-710

One suggestion was to be less superstitious about the number 13, 2012 had 3 Friday the 13th,  all 13 weeks apart and we didn’t have any bad luck. It was all just sentimental superstition.

A thought came to mind. What if, the New Years Resolutions were as much superstitious as Friday the 13th, and maybe as sentimental a traditions as can be? In this spirit, Waldorf Ford has gathered some of the more comic New Years Resolution we could find.

10. I will think of a password other than “password.”

9. I will check my work e-mail account at least once this year

8. Start a blog about how I would write more often if I had something important to write.

7. I will never again show up drunk at a custody hearing.

6. I will cancel at least a few of the 9 or 10 e-mail accounts I currently have.

5. Read a serious book with artistic merit like Twilight.

4. I will not ring the stewardess button on airplanes just to get her phone number.

3. I will stop saying,”Ooh, that feels nice” when the TSA  agent frisk me at airports.

2. I will not fall for the trap of making a new years resolution and forgetting in a week, instead I will make 52 resolutions that I can forget after a week,

1. I will think of 10 actually funny new years resolutions and post them here next year.

.. Thank you for reading all the way to the end. you may just have the resolve to finish an actual new years resolution. Maybe you will finish that independent film you said you would? Waldorf Ford wishes you luck.

The problem with New Year Resolutions is the way people make them, take getting fit for example, this is not something you can just say, “I will eat healthy and get fit” If Waldorf Ford blog readers wanted to get fit, they would spend time doing research on how to get fit.  It is so much more than “Eating healthy and getting fit”. This is the sentimental part of the resolutions. The line becomes an incantation. “I will do this” and we expect it to magically happen.   Its a little bit silly, but in such as way to better ourselves and that at least we at Waldorf Ford can enjoy.

1. Slow down: this is most important thing.

3. Avoid Driving during extreme weather, when heavy rain, or any precipitation reduce visibility to only a few feet.

4. Break slowly to avoid skidding, and make sure not to splash pedestrians.

5. Plan ahead, add food and energy supplies to your car, a spare cellphone charger and warm clothes.

Miracle at 30 Ford Street

Twas the Friday before Christmas

Happy Friday and happy holidays to the friends of  Waldorf Ford.  Today we are in the holiday Spirit, as we prepare for Secret Santa and the last weekend of shopping before Christmas. Despite the title, we are actually located on Crain Highway, but miracles happen here too.

Today, December 21st is the Winter Solstice. the shortest day of the year, from here forward the days will become longer and the earth’s tilt will begin to change, sending us into the summer months. A reason to celebrate for sure if you are anything like me and enjoy warmer weather.

Winter_solstice

Earth bathes through 24 hours of sunshine on December 22, 2007 in celebration of the winter solstice.

Years ago celebrations in winter would occur as a way for people to celebrate making it  through the harshest and coldest months nature could throw at them. As  society changed from agrarian to industrial, and then post-industrial and digital, the reason to celebrate has changed from surviving the winter, to the simple but equally important joy of being with family and friends.

We hope you all have amazing holidays, stop by and tell us about them,

Waldorf Ford will close at at 3.pm.  Christmas Eve, and will not be open on Christmas or New Years Day. We apologize for any discomfort this may create, but we need to hurry up and get to bed before Santa comes to give us that new Ford Fusion we have been wanting.

Thank you and happy holidays.

Daily Ford Quote & Star Trek

Video

“I don’t believe in no-win scenarios”
Captain James T, Kirk

tumblr_lpzhwg195S1qbdelw

This quote is obviously not from Henry Ford, It was said a few hundred years from now, by the future captain of the star-ship Enterprise.

In honor of the new trailer being released for the next Star Trek Movie, Waldorf Ford thought we would switch it up today. But this quote does describe the Ford philosophy pretty well. Waldorf Ford does not believe in no win scenarios either, and that is evident in our employees and our customers who seem to portray the same drive.

Some Star Trek Trivia for you, Zefram Cochrane, the fictional inventor of Warp Drive, was the distant relative of Henry Ford, Further The Star-Ship Enterprise will be manufactured by Ford Motor Corporation… Some have even said that Gene Rodenberry, Star Trek creator was inspired by Henry Ford.

Tell us what you think of the new Star Trek trailer, we might just take a test drive to the theater when this comes out.

Daily Ford Quotes

“It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.”

An interesting quote in light of the current political events, how do you think this quote received when it was said, how do you feel about it?

Waldorf Ford will continue to bring you daily Ford Quotes everyday around lunchtime. Like our facebook page and tell your friends.

Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Waldorf Ford starting at 5pm, global recording artist David Correy made his return to Maryland to sign autographs at Waldorf Ford. The up and coming artist took time out of his busy schedule, to support the local food bank, as did many Southern Maryland residents.

Born in Brazil and raised in Maryland, his musical talents took him all over the world. Beyond the X-factor, David has received a full scholarship Berklee College of Music in Boston, and has started his own record company, Urban Rock Records.

“From one dreamer to another” captions a picture of David Correy signing an autograph for a fan on the star’s facebook. David would end up signing a plethora of autographs, for members of the general public, and Waldorf Ford employees, as well. Below David can be seen wearing a plush heart attached to a jacket, standing next to Waldorf Ford Dealer Operations Manager, Lisa Stephens. The autograph would be displayed in her office window.

Most importantly, the large number of attendees generated funds for the local food bank. We would like to thank all that attended and hope that you will join us for future events.
